First discoveries

Preparations to the trip are getting interesting as well. Learning the language in extremely short time (thanks heavens for www.duolingo.com). Reading the guide from cover to cover, over and over again. I was also searching for some music which turned out not to be so easy. However, I was persistent and I found two lovely things. First one is young indie band from Lima, Kanaku y El Tigre. The guys are joyfully riding along the coast of Lima, sitting on the top of open double-decker. That will be my must-do on the first sunny day in Lima. I hope it will happen soon enough since, according to my guidebook, 300 days a year Lima is foggy with no sun at all.

 

Second piece is a reportage about Afro-Peruvian music from the coast. Though the movie is in Spanish, the music seems to be the universal language.

Therefore Peru

It's certain now. A few more days and I'll be starting new adventure. After so many months of waiting, preparations, adjusting and changing I expected it to be easy. Nothing of the kind - I'm starting to freak out, knowing that I will not be able to come back to Poland for 8 months, realizing slowly that Peru is not the best country to be a vegetarian, that I still speak no Spanish whatsoever and that I have no idea what is waiting for me there.

Nevertheless, the excitement is huge. Bigger than fear. Hopefully it will stay that way :)

To już pewne. Jeszcze parę dni i zaczynam nową przygodę. Po tylu miesiącach czekania, przygotowań, dostosowywania i zmian, spodziewałam się, że będzie mi łatwiej. Nic z tego - zaczynam panikować, wiedząc, że nie będę mogła wrócić do Polski przez 8 miesięcy, powoli uświadamiając sobie, że Peru to nienajlepszy kraj, by być wegetarianką, że wciąż nie potrafię powiedzieć ani słowa po hiszpańsku oraz, że tak naprawdę nie mam pojęcia co mnie tam czeka. 

Jednak moja ekscytacja jest ogromna. Większa niż strach. Mam nadzieję, że tak pozostanie :)
